ABB ACS880 Drive De-rating Detail –
There are three factor of derating temperature derating, altitude derating, switching frequency derating.
- Temperature derating
- Altitude derating
- Switching frequency derating
Derating – The load capacity (current and power) decreases for certain situations, as defined below. In such situations, where full motor power is required, oversize the drive so that the derated value provides sufficient capacity.
Temperature derating – In the temperature range +40…55 °C (+104…131 °F), the rated output current is derated by 1% for every added 1 °C (1.8 °F)
For Air-Cooled
- +40 to +55 °C with derating of 1%/1 °C (-01, -11, -31)
- +40 to +50 °C with derating of 1%/1 °C (-07,-17,-37)
For Liquid Cooled
- 0 to +45 °C as standard (-07CLC, -17/37LC)
- +45 to 55 °C with derating of 0.5%/1 °C (-07CLC, -17/37LC)
Altitude derating – At altitudes above 1000 m (3281 ft) above sea level, the output current derating is 1 percentage point for every added 100 m (328 ft). For example, the derating factor for 1500 m (4921 ft) is 0.95
0 to 1,000 m – Without derating
1,000 to 4,000 m – With derating of 1% / 100 m
