F0070 fault in WEG CFW500 Drive indicates Overcurrent or Short circuit. This means a massive current spike was detected, usually caused by a physical short in the motor phases or aggressive acceleration.
Cause:
- Short-circuit between two motor phases.
- Short-circuit of the rheostatic braking resistor connection cables.
- IGBTs module is short-circuited or damaged.
- Drive started with an acceleration ramp that is too short.
- Drive started with the motor already spinning without using the Flying Start function.
Remedy:
Verify motor winding and connection cables for phase-to-phase shorts. Increase the acceleration ramp time. Enable the Flying Start function if the motor is prone to rotating during startup.
