Cause : Overcurrent comes when output current has exceeded internal fault limit. In addition to an actual overcurrent situation, this fault may also be caused by an earth fault or supply phase loss.

The 2310 warning code in your ABB ACS560 drive indicates an overcurrent fault. This means the motor current has exceeded the internal fault limit set within the drive.

Check the auxiliary code (format XXXYYYZZ):“ZZ” indicates the overcurrent type and phase that triggered the fault:

  • bit 7 =1 indicates SW overcurrent
  • bit 0: Phase U
  • bit 1: Phase V
  • bit 2: Phase W

Understanding Overcurrent Fault:

The ABB ACS560 drive is equipped with internal current protection to safeguard the motor and itself from excessive current draw. When the motor current surpasses the pre-defined limit, the drive triggers the 2310 warning and typically stops the motor to prevent damage.

Possible Causes of 2310 Warning:

  • Motor Overload: The most common cause is the motor experiencing an overload condition. This could be due to:
  • Excessive mechanical load on the motor shaft.
  • Seized bearings or mechanical issues within the motor itself.
  • Incorrect Drive Settings: Inappropriate settings for motor parameters like rated current or overload protection within the drive can contribute to the 2310 warning.
  • Drive Hardware Fault: In rare instances, a malfunctioning component within the drive's current control circuit could lead to a false overcurrent detection and trigger the 2310 warning.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check motor and motor cable (including phasing and delta/star connection).
  2. Check there are no contactors opening and closing in motor cable.
  3. Check that the start-up data in parameter group 99 corresponds to the motor rating plate.
  4. Check that there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge absorbers in motor cable.
  5. Check for an earth fault in motor or motor cables by measuring the insulation resistances of motor and motor cable.
