Cause : BR excess temperature comes when the brake resistor's temperature has exceeded its safe operating limit. This can occur due to several reasons, such as excessive braking energy, insufficient cooling, or a fault in the braking circuit.

The A793 warning in your ABB ACS560 drive indicates an excess temperature warning for the braking resistor. This means the braking resistor, which absorbs energy during deceleration or regenerative braking, is exceeding its safe operating temperature.

  1. Brake resistor temperature has exceeded warning limit defined by parameter 43.12 Brake resistor warning limit.
  2. Stop drive. Let resistor cool down.
  3. Check resistor overload protection function settings (parameter group 43 Brake chopper).
  4. Check warning limit setting, parameter 43.12 Brake resistor warning limit.
  5. Check that the resistor has been dimensioned correctly.
  6. Check that braking cycle meets allowed limits.
