Cause: Short Circuit Fault comes when there is a short circuit within the drive or the motor circuit. A Short Circuit Fault on an ABB ACS880 drive typically means that there is an unexpected low-resistance path, which is creating a direct short between two conductors or between a conductor and ground.
abb fault 2340 indicates Short Circuit Fault. This means the drive has detected an abnormally high current, suggesting a short in the motor, motor cables, or within the drive itself (output inverter bridge).
Troubleshooting Steps:
Follow these steps to correct abb fault 2340:
- Check Motor and Motor Cables: Carefully examine the motor and cables for any signs of damage.
- Disconnect the Motor: If the fault disappears when the motor is disconnected, the problem lies in the motor or the motor cables. Proceed with further testing of these components.
- Inspect Drive Connections: Ensure all motor, power, and control connections to the drive are secure and correctly wired
- Check drive hardware: Test drive IGBT using multimeter.
- Check for External Components: If power factor correction capacitors or surge absorbers are present in the motor cable, try removing them temporarily to see if the fault clears.
