Cause : Heatsink OvrTmp comes when an over-temperature condition on the heatsink of the drive. This could be due to several factors, including high ambient temperatures, inadequate ventilation, or excessive load on the drive causing it to generate more heat than usual. Here's how you can address this issue:

  1. Immediate Shutdown: If the drive is displaying an over-temperature fault, it's important to shut down the equipment immediately to prevent damage to the drive components.

  2. Check Ambient Temperature: Ensure that the ambient temperature around the drive is within the specified operating range. High ambient temperatures can contribute to overheating of the drive's heatsink.

  3. Inspect Ventilation: Verify that the drive has adequate ventilation and airflow to dissipate heat effectively. Clear any obstructions blocking airflow around the drive, and ensure that ventilation openings are not blocked.

  4. Reduce Load: If the drive is operating under heavy load, consider reducing the load or optimizing the application to minimize stress on the drive and reduce heat generation.

  5. Check Heatsink: Inspect the heatsink for any obstructions, dust buildup, or damage that could impede heat dissipation. Clean the heatsink and surrounding components if necessary.

  6. Verify Cooling System: If the drive is equipped with a fan or other cooling system, ensure that it is functioning properly. Replace any faulty fans or components as needed.

  7. Monitor Temperature: Use temperature monitoring tools or the drive's built-in diagnostics to monitor the heatsink temperature during operation. Take note of any trends or patterns that could indicate ongoing overheating issues.

  8. Allow Cooling Period: After shutting down the drive due to an over-temperature fault, allow sufficient time for the drive to cool down before attempting to restart it. This will help prevent further overheating and potential damage to the drive.
