Cause: Ground Fault comes when the drive has detected an issue where current is leaking to the ground. This could be caused by either a short to ground in the motor or cables, or an internal fault within the drive.
delta vfd gff error indicates Ground Fault. This means the drive has detected an unintended path for current to flow to ground.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Follow these steps to correct delta vfd gff error:
- Inspect Motor Wiring: Visually check the entire length of the motor cable for any signs of damage, cuts, or abrasions.
- Inspect the Motor: Disconnect the motor leads from the VFD.
- Check VFD Grounding: Verify that the VFD is properly grounded according to the manual. Ensure a good, low-impedance connection to the earth ground.
- Isolate the VFD: Disconnect the motor cables from the VFD. Power up the VFD (without the motor connected). If the GFF error still appears, the fault is likely internal to the VFD.
- Check Cable Shielding (if applicable): Ensure the motor cable shielding is properly terminated at both the motor and VFD ends.
How to Reset a GFF Error:
Once the ground fault issue has been identified and resolved, you can typically reset the error by:
- Pressing the RESET button on the VFD keypad.
- Cycling the power to the VFD (turning it off and then back on).
- Via an external reset signal if configured.
A persistent GFF error after checking the motor and wiring often indicates an internal fault within the VFD, requiring repair or replacement.
