Cause : Inverter overload comes when the inverter itself is experiencing excessive current flow. This is a critical protection mechanism to prevent damage to the drive.

"Olu" fault in Fuji FRENIC-VG drive indicate "Inverter overload" condition. This means the inverter section of the drive has been subjected to an overload condition. This fault is triggered when the inverter detects that the current drawn by the motor exceeds the inverter’s rated capacity for an extended period.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Motor Load:

    • Verify that the motor is not overloaded and that it is operating within the inverter’s rated capacity.
    • Inspect the connected load for any mechanical issues that could cause the motor to draw more current than normal.
  2. Monitor Inverter Current:

    • Use the drive’s monitoring features to check the current draw during operation. Compare this with the inverter's rated current capacity.
    • If the current is consistently high, consider reducing the load or adjusting the drive’s settings.
  3. Review Drive Settings:

    • Check the current limit, overload protection, and motor parameter settings in the drive. Ensure they are correctly configured for the motor and application.
    • Adjust these settings if necessary to match the motor's specifications and operating conditions.
  4. Inspect Cooling and Ventilation:

    • Ensure the drive’s cooling fans are functioning correctly and that ventilation paths are clear of dust and debris.
    • Check that the drive is installed in a well-ventilated area and is not subjected to high ambient temperatures.
  5. Check Power Supply:

    • Verify that the power supply to the drive is stable and within the specified voltage range. Look for signs of voltage drops or fluctuations that could be causing abnormal current draw.
  6. Examine Motor Condition:

    • Inspect the motor for signs of wear or damage, such as bearing issues, insulation breakdown, or winding shorts, which could cause it to draw excessive current.
    • Consider having the motor tested or serviced if it appears to be contributing to the overload condition.
