p9 PG wire break fault in Fuji FRENIC-VG drive

Cause : PG wire break comes when the pulse generator (PG) wiring has been broken somewhere in the circuit. The PG wire might be physically damaged due to bending, cutting, or abrasion.

"p9" fault in Fuji FRENIC-VG drive indicate " PG wire break" error. This means there is an issue with the pulse generator (PG) or encoder wiring. Specifically, it suggests that the drive has detected a break or disconnection in the wiring between the encoder (or pulse generator) and the drive.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Inspect the Wiring:

    • Visually inspect the wiring between the encoder or pulse generator and the drive for any obvious signs of damage, such as cuts, frays, or broken wires.
    • Check that all wires are securely connected to the correct terminals or connectors.
  2. Test for Continuity:

    • Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the encoder or pulse generator wires. If any of the wires are open (no continuity), they need to be repaired or replaced.
    • Verify that the wiring matches the recommended configuration in the drive’s manual.
  3. Check Connections:

    • Ensure that all connections at the encoder or pulse generator and the drive are tight and secure.
    • Disconnect and then reconnect the wires to ensure a good connection.
  4. Test the Encoder/Pulse Generator:

    • If possible, test the encoder or pulse generator with a known good drive or test equipment to confirm that it is functioning correctly.
    • If the encoder or pulse generator is faulty, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  5. Look for Electrical Noise:

    • Check for sources of electrical noise or interference near the encoder wiring, such as high-voltage cables, motors, or other equipment that could be causing signal disruption.
    • Consider using shielded cables for the encoder wiring to minimize noise interference.
  6. Inspect the Drive Input:

    • If all external factors are in order, the issue may be with the drive’s input circuitry. Test the drive input to ensure it is correctly receiving and processing the signals from the encoder.
    • If the drive input is faulty, it may require repair or replacement.
