Cause : External fault comes when external fault at multi-function input terminal or faults comes from external control circuit.
"Err15" fault in inovance MD290 drive indicate "External fault". This means a problem that is not directly related to the drive itself but rather an external issue triggering the fault condition.
Common Causes:
-
Wiring Issues:
- Loose or damaged cables connecting the drive to external devices can cause faults.
- Check for short circuits, ground faults, or disconnected wires.
-
External Equipment Faults:
- Faults from connected motors, sensors, or other devices can trigger an external fault in the drive.
- Inspect the external devices connected to the drive.
-
Improper Configuration:
- Incorrect parameter settings in the drive may cause the system to interpret external signals as faults.
- Verify that all parameters related to external fault inputs are correctly configured.
-
Noise Interference:
- Electrical noise from nearby equipment can cause false triggering of external fault conditions.
- Ensure proper grounding and shielding of cables and consider using filters if necessary.
-
Faulty External Components:
- Faulty external devices, such as relays, switches, or sensors, can send incorrect signals to the drive.
- Test the components to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Troubleshooting Steps:
-
Check the Fault Log:
- Review the fault history on the drive’s display or software to identify the specific external fault that occurred.
-
Inspect External Wiring:
- Check all connections between the drive and external devices for any loose or damaged wires.
-
Test External Devices:
- Temporarily disconnect external devices to see if the fault clears. This can help isolate the faulty component.
-
Review Drive Parameters:
- Ensure that parameters related to external fault inputs are set correctly according to the system's requirements.
-
Reduce Electrical Noise:
- If noise interference is suspected, ensure that all cables are properly shielded and grounded. Consider using noise filters if necessary.
