Cause : Short circuit to ground comes when a short is detected on the load side when the voltage across the IGBT's collector to emitter is excessive or high current is detected through an IGBT.

"Err23" fault in inovance MD290 drive indicate "Short circuit to ground" condition. This means there is an unintended electrical connection between a live conductor and the ground. This can cause excessive current flow, overheating, and potential damage to the drive or connected components.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Inspect Wiring:

    • Check for damage: Inspect the power cables, motor cables, and internal wiring for signs of wear, cuts, or insulation breakdown.
    • Look for contamination: Check for any dirt, moisture, or other contaminants that might be causing a conductive path.
    • Repair or replace damaged wiring: If you find any damaged wiring, repair it or replace it with a new cable.
  2. Verify Power Supply:

    • Check for grounding issues: Ensure that the power supply is properly grounded.
    • Measure the ground resistance: Use a multimeter to measure the ground resistance and compare it to the specified value.
    • Correct any grounding problems: If the ground resistance is too high or there are grounding issues, take corrective measures.
  3. Use Diagnostic Tools:

    • Utilize the drive's built-in diagnostics: Many drives have diagnostic features that can help identify short circuits.
    • Employ external diagnostic tools: Consider using a dedicated drive analyzer or oscilloscope to gather more detailed information about the drive's operation.
  4. Inspect Internal Components:

    • Check for internal faults: If external factors are not the cause of the short circuit, there might be a fault within the drive or connected devices.
