Cause : External device fault comes when there is a problem with an external device connected to the drive. This fault comes when an external fault signal is input through the multi- functional DI (NC).

"E15.02" fault in inovance MD800 drive indicate an "External device fault". This means the drive detects issues with devices such as sensors, switches, or other peripherals that are used for control or feedback purposes.

Possible Causes:

  1. Faulty External Device: The connected external device, such as a sensor or switch, may be malfunctioning or damaged.
  2. Wiring Issues: Problems with the wiring between the drive and the external device, such as loose connections, shorts, or breaks, can cause this fault.
  3. Incorrect Device Configuration: The external device might be incorrectly configured or not compatible with the drive’s specifications.
  4. Communication Issues: Problems with communication signals or protocols between the drive and the external device can lead to a fault.
  5. Power Supply Issues: The external device may not be receiving the correct power supply, affecting its operation.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Inspect the External Device:

    • Check Device Condition: Examine the external device for any signs of damage or malfunction. Replace the device if necessary.
    • Verify Configuration: Ensure that the external device is correctly configured according to the drive’s requirements and specifications.
  2. Examine Wiring and Connections:

    • Inspect Wiring: Check all wiring between the drive and the external device for loose connections, damage, or incorrect installation. Secure or repair any faulty wiring.
    • Verify Connections: Ensure that all connections are properly terminated and that there are no shorts or breaks in the wiring.
  3. Review Device Power Supply:

    • Check Power Supply: Verify that the external device is receiving the correct power supply as specified in its documentation. Address any issues with the power source.
    • Test Voltage Levels: Measure the voltage levels supplied to the external device to ensure they are within the required range.
  4. Test Communication Signals:

    • Check Communication: If the external device relies on communication signals (e.g., analog or digital signals), verify that these signals are correctly transmitted and received.
    • Test Signal Integrity: Use diagnostic tools to check the integrity of the communication signals between the drive and the external device.
  5. Verify Drive Settings:

    • Check External Device Parameters: Ensure that the drive’s settings related to the external device are configured correctly. Review the drive’s parameters and adjust as needed.
    • Review Input/Output Configurations: Verify that the drive’s I/O configurations match the requirements of the external device.
