Cause : OverVoltage comes when the voltage in the internal circuit of the drive has become too high due to high input supply.

The F0002 fault in Siemens Micromaster 440 (MM440) drive indicates an overvoltage condition. This means that the voltage in the DC link has exceeded the allowable limit.

Here are some common causes and troubleshooting steps:

Common Causes

  1. Regenerative Braking: During deceleration, the motor acts as a generator and feeds energy back into the drive, causing an increase in the DC link voltage.
  2. Power Supply Issues: Fluctuations or spikes in the input power supply.
  3. Incorrect Parameter Settings: Parameters related to voltage limits or deceleration rates may be set incorrectly.
  4. Faulty Components: Issues with the drive's components, such as the braking chopper or resistors.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Power Supply:

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range for the drive.
    • Check for any fluctuations or spikes in the power supply.
  2. Verify Braking Resistor:

    • Ensure that a braking resistor is installed if required for your application.
    • Check the resistor for proper operation and correct connection.
    • Measure the resistance to ensure it matches the specifications.
  3. Adjust Parameters:

    • Increase the deceleration time to reduce the regenerative energy.
    • Enable and adjust the Overvoltage Controller to manage voltage spikes.
  4. Reduce Load Inertia:

    • If possible, reduce the inertia of the load to minimize regenerative energy during deceleration.
  5. Inspect Drive Components:

    • Check for any signs of damage or malfunction in the drive components.
    • Ensure all connections are secure and in good condition.
  6. Monitor Drive Operation:

    • Use the drive's diagnostic tools to monitor the DC link voltage and identify patterns leading to the fault.
