Cause : Inverter I2T comes when the drive is experiencing more current than it's designed to handle due to motor oversize or mechanical issue in motor.

The F0005 fault in Siemens Micromaster 440 indicates an Inverter Overload condition. This means that the drive has detected an overload situation, typically caused by the motor drawing more current than the drive can handle.

Common Causes

  1. Excessive Load: The motor is driving a load that is too heavy.
  2. Frequent Start/Stop Cycles: Repeated starts and stops can cause the drive to overheat and overload.
  3. Incorrect Motor Parameters: Motor parameters in the drive may not be set correctly.
  4. Short Circuit: A short circuit in the motor or the motor cables.
  5. Mechanical Issues: Problems with the motor or the driven equipment, such as bearings or gears.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Load:

    • Ensure the load on the motor is within the drive's rated capacity.
    • Reduce the load if possible to see if the fault clears.
  2. Inspect Motor and Cables:

    • Check the motor and motor cables for any signs of damage or short circuits.
    • Measure the insulation resistance of the motor and cables.
  3. Adjust Parameters:

    • Ensure that the motor parameters (such as motor current, power, and voltage) are correctly entered in the drive.
    • Increase the acceleration and deceleration times to reduce the load on the drive during these periods.
  4. Reduce Start/Stop Frequency:

    • If the application involves frequent start/stop cycles, try to reduce the frequency if possible.
    • Use soft start/stop functions to reduce the impact on the drive.
  5. Check for Mechanical Issues:

    • Inspect the motor and the driven equipment for any mechanical problems, such as binding, worn bearings, or misalignment.
    • Ensure that the motor is not mechanically overloaded.
