When a KUKA KRC5 Profinet IO device is not reachable, it means that the robot controller cannot establish a communication link with the external device connected via Profinet.
If your KUKA KRC5 controller is showing a "Profinet IO Device not reachable" message, it indicates that the controller is unable to communicate with one or more Profinet IO devices configured in the network.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check Device Power and Status:
- Power Supply: Ensure that the Profinet IO device is properly powered on. Check the power supply and ensure that the device’s status LEDs indicate normal operation.
- Device Status: Verify that the device isn’t showing any fault or error indicators.
2. Verify Network Configuration:
- IP Address: Check that the IP address of the Profinet IO device is correctly configured and matches the configuration in KUKA WorkVisual.
- Subnet Mask: Ensure that both the KRC5 controller and the Profinet IO device are on the same subnet. The subnet mask should be consistent across all devices in the network.
- Device Name: Make sure that the device name assigned in WorkVisual matches the actual name configured on the Profinet IO device. The name is case-sensitive.
3. Inspect Network Connections:
- Cabling: Verify that all Ethernet cables are securely connected and not damaged. Re-seat or replace cables if necessary.
- Switch/Router: If the devices are connected through a network switch or router, ensure that it is functioning correctly. Test by connecting devices directly if possible.
- Network Ports: Check the Ethernet ports on both the KRC5 controller and the Profinet IO device for any physical damage or issues.
4. Check Device Configuration in WorkVisual:
- Project Configuration: Open your project in KUKA WorkVisual and ensure that the Profinet IO device is correctly added to the network topology.
- Device Assignment: Confirm that the IO device is assigned to the correct Profinet controller (KRC5) in the bus structure.
- Consistency Check: Use WorkVisual’s tools to perform a consistency check on the configuration. This will highlight any potential mismatches or configuration errors.
5. Ping the Device:
- Network Test: From the KRC5 controller, try pinging the IP address of the Profinet IO device to check connectivity. This can be done via the controller’s terminal or command line interface.
- Response: If the device does not respond to the ping, there may be a network issue, an IP conflict, or the device may be offline.
