The "oL" error code on a Delta VFD indicates an overload condition. This means the AC motor drive has detected excessive current flowing to the motor.
Here's a breakdown of what the error signifies and how to troubleshoot it:
Cause:
- The motor is overloaded: This is the most common reason. The motor might be working harder than it's designed to, causing the current draw to exceed its rating.
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Check for Mechanical Overload:
- Is the motor jammed or encountering excessive friction?
- Reduce the load on the motor if possible.
2. Verify VFD Settings:
- Ensure the motor's rated current is correctly set in the VFD parameters (usually Pr. 07.00).
- Consider adjusting torque compensation settings (Pr. 07.02) to reduce strain on the motor.
3. Inspect Wiring:
- Look for any loose or damaged wiring between the VFD and the motor.
4. Consider VFD Capacity:
- In some cases, the VFD itself might be undersized for the motor's requirements. Upgrading the VFD to a higher capacity might be necessary.
