Cause : OverCurrent - comes when unwanted, unused, waste current flowing from a live conductor or terminal to the ground or earth through the ground conductor or any other conductive path.
- In Siemens MM440 frequency inverters, an "OverCurrent fault" indicates that the current flowing through the inverter or motor has exceeded a preset threshold. This fault typically occurs when there is a problem such as a short circuit, motor overload, or other electrical fault.
When the MM440 detects an overcurrent condition, it will typically trigger a fault response to protect the equipment from damage. This response may include shutting down the inverter output, displaying an error code or message, and potentially requiring manual intervention to reset the fault.
These are the steps to correct the fault:
Step: 1
Check cable length- Cable length limits must not be exceeded.
Step: 2
Check wiring- Motor cable and motor must have no short-circuits or earth faults
Step: 3
Check motor parameter- Motor parameters must match the motor in use and also Value of stator resistance (P0350) must be correct.
Step: 4
Check motor overload condition- Motor must not be obstructed or overloaded
Step: 5
Check ramp time- Increase the ramp time & reduce the boost level.
To resolve an OverCurrent fault on a Siemens MM440, it's essential to first identify and address the underlying cause of the overcurrent condition. This may involve troubleshooting the motor, checking for wiring issues, verifying load conditions, and ensuring that the inverter settings are appropriate for the application.
