ABB ACS880 Modbus Guide: Wiring, Parameters & Registers – In this article get complete information about ACS880 drive modbus communication include parameters, wiring, registers and step by step guide.
Part 1 : Wiring
ACS880 control units (like the ZCU-12 or ZCU-14) have an RS-485 terminal block built-in (Terminals X5). If you are using this, you don’t need the adapter, but the parameter groups change.

Part 2 : Parameter
Wiring is only half the battle. Now you need to tell the ACS880 how to listen. If you are using the FSCA-01 module, you are looking at Group 50, 51, 52, and 58.
| Parameter | Setting | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| 50.01 FBA A Enable | Enable (e.g., Option slot 1) | Activates the module. |
| 51.02 Node Address | 1 to 247 | Must match your PLC setting exactly. |
| 51.03 Baud Rate | e.g., 19.2 kbit/s | Speed of data. Must match the PLC. |
| 51.04 Parity | e.g., 8 EVEN 1 | Data format. 8N1 or 8E1 are standard. |
| 51.27 FBA A Refresh | Refresh | CRITICAL: Changes to 51.02-51.04 won’t take effect until you cycle power OR set this parameter to Refresh. |
Part 3 : Modbus Registers
Once configured, your Modbus Holding Registers (4xxxx) will line up exactly as the old drive did:
| Address | Content |
|---|---|
| 40001 | Control Word (Inputs) |
| 40002 | Reference 1 (Speed) |
| 40004 | Status Word (Outputs) |
| 40005 | Actual Value 1 (Speed Feedback) |
| 40006 | Actual Value 2 (Torque/Current) |
By ensuring your termination resistor is engaged at the end of the line, you solve the physical connection issues.
