Cause: Cooling comes when drive module temperature is excessive. This means the drive has detected that the cooling efficiency is reduced or that a cooling fan issue is present.

A4A9 warning in ABB ACS880 drive indicates a cooling issue or an excessive drive module temperature. This warning is triggered when the drive's internal temperature, specifically in the power module, exceeds a predetermined limit.

Solution:

  1. Check ambient temperature. If it exceeds 40 °C (104 °F), ensure that load current does not exceed derated load capacity of drive.
  2. Check drive module cooling air flow and fan operation.
  3. Check inside of cabinet and heatsink of drive module for dust pick-up. Clean whenever necessary.
